THUS LOVE have today revealed their brand-new single Centerfield and its accompanying video directed by Augie Voss and Benni Shumlin. Centerfield is the follow up to THUS LOVE’s recent single Put On Dog which was released in January to a great press reception with editorial playlist support including NME and So Young Magazine.
Speaking about the new single, THUS LOVE say:
‘In the age of advertisement and the internet, attention is a resource being stolen and memory feels at risk of extinction. This video is a time stamp of determination and incubation of what was, is, and shall be. This song is for the dreamers who hold onto mystery, who embrace the reality of that which we are now bred to forget’.
THUS LOVE have announced new UK shows for this August, with a London date at the legendary 100 Club and further gigs in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Coventry. THUS LOVE are currently touring Europe playing a series of headline shows, including a recently announced and sold out London gig at The Windmill on 4 March, in addition to support slots with Dry Cleaning. The band has a series of shows in the US In March and May this year, with festival slots at SXSW and New Colossus in New York. Full tour dates are listed below.
THUS LOVE released their critically acclaimed debut album Memorial in October last year to great support from the likes of The Guardian, NME, Clash, Loud And Quiet and Rolling Stone, as well as consistent plays at UK radio from BBC 6 Music and Apple Music Radio.
THUS LOVE is a band but also so much more. The Brattleboro, Vermont trio stand together, a bond cemented by their experience as outsiders looking in. For THUS LOVE, DIY is an ethos that reflects not only their musical vision but their very existence as three self-identifying trans artists. From the band’s inception, Echo Mars (she/her), Lu Racine (he/him) and Nathaniel van Osdol (they/them) have lived together under the same roof, designed and produced their own merch, and even created their own recording studio from scratch.
THUS LOVE traces its beginnings to Mars’ and Racine’s serendipitous meeting at a local print shop in 2018, when the multi-instrumentalists agreed to collaborate on a new musical project. THUS LOVE’s lineup clicked into place when Mars and Racine were finally able to convince van Osdol to join on bass in 2019. The band was just starting to regularly headline renowned local venue The Stone Church when everything came to a sudden and screeching halt. Rather than idly wait, the band decided to take their future in their own hands. Armed with nothing but YouTube videos and her innate curiosity, Mars constructed a makeshift studio in their rented apartment above downtown Brattleboro, recording during odd hours when their next-door neighbors were out and about.
