SUMMER SOUNDS & OUTWARD BOUNDS
SOMERSAULT FESTIVAL, 23-27 JULY 2015
CASTLE HILL ESTATE, NORTH DEVON
SOMERSAULT FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MENUS FOR CAMPFIRE FEASTS ON OFFER FROM FIFTEEN CORNWALL, RIVER COTTAGE, VALENTINE WARNER AND THE ETHICUREAN.
Somersault is anything but another music festival. Packed full of music, adventures and the best of outdoor living, Somersault is back for 2015 after its 2014 debut saw a previously unimagined festival experience come to life.
The campfire feasts are the focal point of the food offering at Somersault. Hosted by four specially selected restaurants – Fifteen Cornwall, River Cottage, Valentine Warner and The Ethicurean – that each bring a unique flavour to the Somersault experience. The feasts consist of four delicious courses, designed especially for Somersault The elements of each menu will be cooked over the campfire by each of the restaurant’s chefs and served up to guests in our Feasting Tent. See sample menus below (menus subject to change and Campfire Feasts ticketed separately).
Fifteen Cornwall will be returning to Castle Hill this year on Thursday night creating signature Italian dishes with a Cornish twist. Head Chef, Andy Appleton said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be involved in Somersault again this July – the venue is amazing. We’re planning a little bit of Fifteen for our feast night, serving up some great Italian food with our own twist, served in a rustic and authentic manner. I’m really enjoying the challenge of putting together an exciting menu that’s full of fun, seasonal and typically us.”
New to Somersault this year and taking the campfire reigns on the Friday, for both lunch and dinner, will be Valentine Warner. Valentine is a cook, food writer and prime time broadcaster, originally appearing on the BBC show, ‘What To Eat Now’.
Pairing cocktails with mouthwatering dishes, Bristol’s famed restaurant, The Ethicurean will be returning to Somersault in 2015 serving up lunch and dinner on Saturday. Formed in 2010, The Ethicurean has gained critical acclaim for their food and cocktails and for their debut cookbook released in 2013. Co-founder Jack Adair Bevan said:
“We cannot wait to return to Somersault festival with our team from The Ethicurean. Our award winning cooking and cocktail making is founded on a ‘Sense of Place’ and the land on which we stand. We are very excited to be calling North Devon our home for the weekend.”
Sunday’s feasts will be cooked up by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage who will be putting on an early and late lunch for guests. Long serving River Cottage chef, Gill Meller, will be cooking the Campfire Feast for the Somersault foodies. He has been part of the River Cottage team for almost ten years, working closely with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. River Cottage HQ is located on the Devon and Dorset border and offer unique dining experiences and memorable events.
