QUEEN ZEE REVEAL NEW SINGLE ‘IDLE CROWN’
THE BAND ALSO ANNOUNCE FEBRUARY 2018 TOUR WITH MARMOZETS
“A force to be reckoned with” – DIY
“An unavoidably loud force for good” – Clash
Liverpool DIY punk outfit Queen Zee have today released their new single ‘Idle Crown’, out now on the band’s own label, Sasstone Records. The track sees the rabble rousing band at their menacing best, evoking the likes of early 90s Marilyn Manson. The band release the new single straight off the back of two months on the road, playing sold-out shows with Cabbage and Marmozets.

Queen Zee explains the new single:
“Idle Crown is essentially a narrative between two characters trapped in a toxic relationship. It’s something everyone can relate too, but what I wanted to do was question heteronormativity using a familiar setting. A theme throughout the album as a whole is society’s wish for LGBTQ+ people to conform to a standard, regardless of the happiness or health of them. Within ‘Idle Crown’, I used two LGBTQ+ characters trapped in a heteronormative relationship to express the pain of being unable to live as your true self’
Drawing heavily on a variety of musical influences, from the teenage rampage that was the 70s garage and punk rock explosion to the maddest, wildest elements of exploratory 80s pop – blurring the lines between everything, from sexuality and gender to global politics, Queen Zee are a musical force of nature. Here at last is a band who talk the talk, walk the walk and give so much of a fuck that they really couldn’t give a single fuck who they irritate along the way.
Ultimately, they say, they’re more influenced by the city’s working class politics, LGBT+ community and diversity than by what they see as a stagnant music scene around them.
Fronted by the direct and articulate Queen Zee (vocals/guitar) the Liverpool band is completed by fellow songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jason Taylor Brown (guitar), Frank Wortho (bass) David Bloom (drums) and Courtney Colley (Keys & Vocals).
The band will head out on the road again with Marmozets in February 2018, full tour dates below.
