MAMA, TIME OUT, COMMUNION, SOUNDCRASH & SUPERFLY PRESENT SUNDAY 17TH JULY - VICTORIA PARK, LONDON CITADEL 2016 OPENS ITS GATES FOR THE ULTIMATE SUMMER SUNDAY

“A kaleidoscopic musical landscape” – The Guardian

London’s brightest new festival, Citadel, opened its gates to a sunny Victoria Park this lunchtime, welcoming guests to the ultimate summer Sunday – packed with music, food, sports, comedy, theatre and more.

As the park gears up for a headline set from Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Rós, plus CaribouLianne La HavasNathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and more, Victoria Park is awash with activities to discover on site.

From live music provided by CommunionSoundcrashFabric Sunday Sessions and beyond, to dining and drinking courtesy of London’s finest food institutions, with workshops and classes provided by The Indytute, wellbeing and yoga, enriching talks and debates at the Sunday Papers Live, to mischievous games at Sunday Sports Day via Rock N’ Roller Skate and theatre, performances and comedy…there’s a wealth of creativity and community to explore in the Park.

Bringing the broadsheets to life with talks, debates (and Bloody Mary’s) are Sunday Papers Live – the World News presented by Frontline Club, UK News with Pen International, Business with Akala, Sport with Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Culture with Sofar Sounds, Style with i-D and Travel with John Hudson.

Old Vic New Voices, Les Femmes Circus and Underbelly are also on hand throughout the day offering spellbinding theatre, hilarious comedy and plenty of swing and folk dancing at the Meadow Stage.

The perfect summer Sunday isn’t complete without a long, languid lunch and Citadel is proud to offer ticketed (sold out) feasts from Stephen Harris and The Sportsman. Fresh from their recent ‘Restaurant of the Year 2016’ win, Citadel is the first time Stephen’s offering has been brought outside of his native pub in Whitstable. Also on hand offering food and drink are some of London’s hottest food institutions, including: DF / Mexico, Mr Bao, Bubbledogs, Voodoo Rays, Anna Maes, Le Bun, Smokestak, BIRD and many more.

There’s even more to experience in the Park, with The Braid Bar and Paperself joining a previously announced selection of Fashion & Beauty boutiques. Furthermore, The Idler Academy, the literary learning offshoot of the esteemed Notting Hill bookstore, have brought their special boutique bookshop onsite.

London’s foremost one dayer, Citadel is a reflection and celebration of a city that has so much to sing about.
