Today Kenyan-Norwegian multi-disciplined visual artist and musician Lil Halima releases her new single ‘who do u love’ via Universal Music / Def Jam Recordings Norway and Island Records UK. ‘who do u love’ is the first track to be released from her forthcoming EP ‘for the bright days’ – part two of a dual conceptual EP release – out 24th May. ‘who do u love’, co-written by Lil Halima, is an uplifting love song that calls for reflection on all of the people in life that you love. The energetic, danceable bassline coupled with Lil Halima’s smooth melodic flow perfectly capture the themes of ‘for the bright days’ – a celebration of summertime and the light-filled emotions it brings. ‘for the bright days’ is the second of a two-part conceptual EP release by Lil Halima which aims to explore the contrasting emotions one feels during the winter versus summer months in north Norway, where there is either constant sunlight or none at all. Through the two EPs, she explores not only the emotions that come with the change in season but the effects they have on our relationships and interactions with others. Of the dual-release, Lil Halima says: “I wanted to dedicate two EPs to two seasons we have back home. Music that resonates with the type of music I would listen to… depending on the season. Since my home is above the polar circle, we have complete darkness during winter and a sun that never goes down during summer. I released ‘for the dark days’ a while back, and now I’m back for the bright days with ‘for the bright days’”. The first EP, ‘for the dark days’ was released earlier this year and included single ‘Hold Me’, which Line of Best Fit praised as a ‘sweeping and deftly arranged slice of brooding pop, that combines themes of R&B, trip-hop and electronica’. Lil Halima is a singer, songwriter, pianist and violinist as well as painter and visual artist. She released her debut EP ‘love songs for bad lovers’ in October 2018, which was shortlisted for the Nordic Music Prize Award and gained her the nomination for ‘Best Urban Act’ at the Norwegian Grammy Awards. The seven track EP, all centred around the experiences of falling in love for the first time, features singles ‘Train’ and ‘Jasmine’.
