JODIE ABACUS ANNOUNCES 2016 HEADLINE UK TOUR

Jodie Abacus has announced his debut headline tour, which will see him perform in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds and London in September 2016. He will be joined on tour by the acclaimed synth-pop female duo Ekkah and upcoming British hip-hop group The Age Of L.U.N.A.

Jodie Abacus is a South-London pop/funk singer and songwriter whose joyful songs and voice have gathered him plenty of attention and acclaim in the past 12 months. He plans to release his debut album later this year, and recent EP ‘For Real Life And Not Pretend’, out now, contains perfect examples of his sun tinged pop.

His track I’ll Be That Friend is a feel-good, summer song which is both retro but modern, with Stevie Wonder’s soul, ELO’s strings and a message of hope that is irresistible. Lyrically it’s about the worst time of his life, when it all went south, and he didn’t have a friend to turn to. This is a promise that he’ll be that friend to someone else when in need.

Also look out for the rubbery groove of Halfway to Mexico, produced by fellow hot funk tip Royce Wood Junior, or the double-bass, handclaps and Coca-Cola endorsement of Hot Kitchen. The latter track was championed by Lauren Laverne recently and playlisted on BBC 6Music. His latest single, She’s In Love With The Weekend, tells the story of a habitual party girl and serves as a musical homage to 80s classic artists such as Hall & Oates. He’s recently been in the studio with the likes of Julio Bashmore, Duke Dumont, Tobias Jesso Jr and Sohn among others, putting the finishing touches to his much-anticipated debut album.
