MURRAY CHALMERS PR IS AN INNOVATIVE COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY BASED IN LONDON. WE HELP THE DEFINING MUSIC ARTISTS, LABELS, BRANDS AND EVENTS OF OUR TIME SET THE TEMPO FOR THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY.
MCPR has been in business for the last 7 years although Murray Chalmers himself has been a publicist for 30. In 2008, when EMI Records was sold, PR director Chalmers decided to leave and set up a new highly focused agency, encapsulating all the ideas he had tried to put into practice during his 24 years at the record label. Knowing that a few artists might follow him to his new venture, he was thrilled when all his major clients chose to move with him to his new company. These included Radiohead, Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen, Pet Shop Boys and Yoko Ono/John Lennon Estate.
The company then grew exponentially to embrace various new artists and staff, giving the company one of the most revered artist rosters in the business. Artists include Robbie Williams, Kate Bush, Noel Gallagher, Paloma Faith, Muse, Tom Odell, Placebo, Chrissie Hynde, Garbage, The Vaccines, Interpol and Suede, plus a carefully chosen selection of up and coming artists. Throughout our work with these artists, MCPR strategize and oversee PR for brands and events projects, including Kylie’s perfume ranges (with Coty), Lily Allen’s clothing label (with New Look), Paloma Faith and Kylie (Mastercard) and Robbie Williams’ tours (with Samsung) plus many more.
In 2011, the company was asked to handle all media and event management for the secret reunion of The Stone Roses. This highly prestigious appointment opened the doors to many other cultural events, including Yoko Ono’s Meltdown 2013 Festival, which MCPR were instrumental in developing and promoting with London’s South Bank Centre. Whilst artist PR will always be a pivotal part of MCPR, the company has developed to encompass compatible brands and events projects, which play an increasing role in our operations.
18 months into the Brands and Events division’s inception, clients include Citadel Festival 2016, Wahaca’s Day of the Dead Festival 2015, Attitude Magazine and their year round celebrity award ceremonies, Mama and Company’s five day festival Somersault Festival 2014 and 2015, Omniverse and Cinema Live (event cinema specialists), Kat Maconie and Air & Grace (shoe designers), up and coming designer accessories label Strathberry of Scotland, restaurant A Little Of What You Fancy plus ongoing pro bono work with Unicef.
Strategy, innovation, idiosyncrasy and integrity lie at the core of the MCPR business. Our passion for various disciplines within the arts and creative industries informs our strategic decisions – always ensuring our clients’ campaigns remain culturally relevant. The boutique nature of our company allows us to work with flexibility and tenacity, bringing a personal touch to our international, top tier client roster.
